NOTE: While I post products that are not noted as containing animal-based materials on the site they originate from, I cannot guarantee that they are, in fact, completely vegan. Some items labeled as containing "man-made materials," for example, may contain regenerated leather or glue that is derived from animal ingredients. For more info, you can read my post on leather labeling. Some jeans may have labels made of leather. Blouses may have shell buttons. And some items labeled as being made from "textile" may contain animals fibers.

If you are interested in an item and are concerned about the materials used to manufacture it, I advise that you contact the company directly.

Two sister kitties in need of foster or homes ASAP! Owner passed away suddenly and they need help!

A client of our cat sitter suddenly and unexpectedly passed away and left behind her four kitties. Two of them have foster families already. But two (a pair of 1 year-old calico sisters) are still in need of homes. Otherwise we have been told they will be taken to Animal Control, which will probably end in euthanasia.

We need to get them in a foster or adoption situation ASAP. Please contact me if you can help or if you know anyone that can help.  Please forward to anyone else you know who might be able to help these kitties, even temporarily. Email me at if you can help. Thanks!
P.S. Sorry the photos are so small. This is how I received them.

Oh, Vegan Skull Studded Flats… I need you in my life!

Vshoen: Ethically Conscious Fashion

Have you guys heard of Vshoen? They are an “ethically conscious” online clothing store (though they seem to be heavy on shoes and accessories). They’re 100% vegan and carry designers like Cri de Coeur, Olsen Haus, Novacas, Beyond Skin, Neuaura, Vegetarian Shoes, Colorful Grass, Truths belts from Co-Lab, Form & Fauna, Gunas, and more. Check em out!

This dress deserves its own post…

…because it’s possibly one of the prettiest dresses I have ever seen. And it’s cotton!

Ethical design company, Mission Savvy, will be on NPR’s Morning Edition tomorrow! As you may or may not know, 5% of profits generated by sales from Mission Savvy clothing collections are donated to a select group of animal welfare and conservation groups. It’s amazing to see not just vegan food, but also vegan fashion being discussed on major media outlets. Make sure you tune in!! [Check your local listings here.]

Kelly Green With Envy

My favorite color is kelly green. Real, bright, true, grass green. Not sure why. Maybe because it’s fresh, flattering, and makes me feel lighter and happier when I see it. Maybe because it reminds me of my college semester in Ireland, one of the happiest times of my life.

I found this adorable photo while scouring for green pieces of clothing. I have no idea what is going on in the background with masked men in soapbox cars (?), but I am in love with this lady’s outfit. Below are a few pieces I found that can add that pop of kelly to your closet.

Free People is venturing into vegan leather…

…and featuring it proudly on their homepage. The Urban Outfitters higher-end sister brand just came out with some super cute pieces. And they’re not labeled as “faux,” or “fake,” or “man-made.” They’re outright labeled “VEGAN,” a move that shows the company is recognizing that there is a population of women out there who love animals, and also happen to be stylish. Right. The. Eff. On.

I found out about this first when I got an email from Free People’s Naomi Huober, who summed up the company’s approach as a collection that “maintains a fashion forward aesthetic (tapping into key trends going on in leather) while catering to women who care about animals and the impact of their choices.” So they do seem to get it. And I was extra happy to see that they are not using PVC. And yesterday’s Marie Claire blog post by Amanda Hearst about the line claims they did a good job with textile selection, and that the clothing feels soft like leather - not plastic-y or stiff. Check out these shots, featuring model Barbara De Credo. (Note: I must have that hooded jacket.)
